Datong's postal industry experienced remarkable resilience and vitality from January to September, with deliveries reaching 143.79 million items, a 4.29 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Express delivery services were a major contributor, handling 106.84 million items, up  6.78 percent, underscoring strong online consumer demand and increasing logistics activity between urban and rural areas.

The industry's financial performance also showed positive trends, with total revenue reaching 1.33 billion yuan ($199 million), a 2.16 percent year-on-year increase. Express delivery services alone generated 923 million yuan, a 4.88 percent rise.

In September, the industry continued its upward momentum, with postal revenue totaling 154 million yuan, a 2.47 percent increase from the previous year. Express delivery revenue reached 114 million yuan, up 5.16 percent.

Among express deliveries, 5.78 percent were local, 94.21 percent were intercity, and 0.01 percent were international/Hong Kong-Macao-Taiwan deliveries. Compared to the same period last year, local deliveries decreased slightly, while intercity deliveries saw a significant rise.

Moving forward, efforts will focus on enhancing delivery services in communities, campuses, and rural areas, addressing logistical challenges at the grassroots level. The integration of delivery, e-commerce and agriculture will be strengthened to promote the upward flow of local agricultural products, supporting rural vitalization.

Authorities also aim to deepen the integration of postal services with the cultural tourism and commercial sectors, standardize services, and enhance delivery efficiency, thereby supporting the city's high-quality economic and social development.
