The orthopedics team at Linfen People's Hospital, under the leadership of Director Jia Jian, has performed the city's first intelligent robot-assisted total knee and hip replacement surgeries, marking a new era of precision, minimally invasive procedures, and advanced intelligent technology in Linfen’s orthopedic care.

Mr Chai, a 67-year-old patient suffering from severe knee arthritis, underwent robot-assisted knee replacement surgery. Doctors used CT-based 3D modeling to develop a detailed surgical plan, enabling the robot to achieve sub-millimeter precision in bone cutting and prosthesis placement. The surgery was minimally invasive with little bleeding, allowing the patient to recover rapidly and be discharged within a week.

The team also performed a robot-assisted total hip replacement surgery for Mr Qi, a 63-year-old patient with a femoral neck fracture, completing it in just one hour. By ensuring precise control of prosthetic angles and limb length, the patient was able to walk three days after the operation.

The robotic system does not replace doctors, but enhances surgical safety and outcomes through precise navigation. The department has now completed five robotic surgeries, involving preoperative planning, intraoperative procedures, and postoperative evaluation.

The team hopes to further expand the use of robotic surgery, allowing patients to access advanced intelligent medical services close to home, and providing better care for orthopedic health.
