Quwo county is located in south-central Shanxi province, at the southern edge of the Linfen Basin. Covering a total area of 437.9 square kilometers, it includes seven townships and 114 administrative villages, with a population of 220,000.

Rich History and Cultural Heritage
Quwo boasts a rich historical and cultural legacy. Established as a state during the Western Zhou Dynasty (c.11th century-771 BC) and as a county during the Northern Wei Dynasty (386-534), it is known as the “Source of Shanxi” and a thousand-year-old county rich in idioms and allusions. The county is home to 538 historical and cultural relics and 179 cultural relic protection units, including six at the national level and eight at the provincial level. Additionally, it has three national-level and 11 provincial-level intangible cultural heritage projects.

Abundant Resources
Quwo's abundant water resources include 10 small and medium-sized reservoirs with a total capacity of 113 million cubic meters, making it one of the few water-rich regions in the province.
