The micro-drama base in Linfen, Shanxi Daxidi Film Co, collaborated with iQIYI and China Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio to create a 50-episode AI-powered science micro-documentary series, Accidentally Scientific. Each five-minute episode explores accidental scientific discoveries through narrative storytelling that simplifies complex scientific concepts.

Released on iQIYI on June 5, the series quickly topped the platform's documentary trending chart on its debut day. Within two months, it amassed over 2 million views and achieved a peak popularity score of 1,503, ranking fourth on the hot content list.

A recent symposium on the series was held in Beijing, with guidance and academic support provided by various organizations, universities, and research institutions. Industry experts discussed topics such as standardized production and commercialization models for AI-driven documentaries.

The series' lead director, Li Jinwei, introduced its unique production approach during the symposium, which combines "human-led creativity and AI-assisted production". AI was used to enhance visual effects and recreate scientific scenes that are difficult to achieve through traditional filming methods. The project also implemented a clear profit-sharing model early on, demonstrating the commercial viability of AIGC (AI-Generated Content) in educational media.
