The Linfen session of the news conference series, themed on the start of 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), was held on Aug 24. Linfen Mayor Wang Yanfeng introduced the city’s development strategy. Linfen aims to enhance safety, production, and transportation, and to implement smart, environmentally friendly upgrades of the coal sector, positioning itself as a core coking coal base.

The city also seeks to promote industrial transformation by nurturing diversified clusters and establishing a "3+6+N" advanced industrial system. The "3" represents the intelligent modernization of traditional coal, coke, and steel industries. The "6" prioritizes the development of six emerging industries, including coalbed methane, copper-based new materials, and equipment manufacturing. The "N" involves the strategic layout of futuristic industries such as AI, the low-altitude economy, embodied robotics, and hydrogen energy.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, Linfen plans to create a premier destination for experiencing Shanxi's ancient architecture, broadening the influence of landmarks like Xiaoxitian Temple and Guangsheng Temple.

The city also plans to establish itself as a Yellow River cultural tourism destination, advancing the development of key attractions such as Hukou Waterfall, Yunqiu Mountain, and Qiankun Bay to form an integrated Yellow River cultural landscape. Vice-Mayor Wang Yun highlighted efforts to promote archaeological research at the Taosi Ruins, and upgrade the exhibits at the Taosi Museum.
