Yanqquan advances IP protection
Yangquan has made significant strides in enhancing its intellectual property (IP) protection initiatives. By the end of 2024, the city recorded 493 valid invention patents, a 22.02 percent year-on-year increase, and 8,021 valid trademark registrations, a 19.02 percent rise.
These remarkable achievements can be largely attributed to the implementation of measures introduced by authorities, including the establishment of an Intellectual Property and Standardization Service Center. This center provides comprehensive public services in patents, trademarks, and geographical indications to various innovators and the general public.
The city also employs administrative penalties, adjudications, and mediations to bolster IP protection.
Authorities have developed a collaborative platform linking government, banks, and enterprises, and have signed a strategic cooperation agreement on IP insurance with a leading insurance agency.
This initiative promotes IP pledge financing activities, breaking down information barriers between banks and enterprises. In recent years, IP pledge financing has reached 60 million yuan ($8.33 million), converting the innovative potential of IP into tangible financial value.
Yangquan is also accelerating the transformation and industrialization of university-owned intellectual property. The city has organized specialized and high-tech enterprises to participate in the cultivation of model enterprises for patent industrialization.
