Shinao Mountain in Yangquan is lush and vibrant in summer, a testament to the city's ambitious urban renewal efforts. The transformation of concrete roads into asphalt pathways, adorned with vibrant flowers and fresh grass, has enhanced the area's aesthetic appeal and supported the preservation of red culture.
This project is part of Yangquan's broader initiative to create a harmonious environment through ecological restoration, infrastructure upgrades, and improvements in urban aesthetics.
Central to this initiative is the comprehensive road renovation program. The city has replaced old surfaces with patterned concrete paving and utilized granite repairs. Pedestrian handrails, colorful non-slip steps, and barrier-free ramps have also been added for increased accessibility.

Key accomplishments include 197 barrier-free curb ramp modifications and over 3,700 square meters of sidewalk repairs, which involved laying 1,200 square meters of asphalt and installing 120 meters of guardrails.
Efforts to improve the city's appearance have focused on eliminating illegal street vending, unauthorized advertisements, and regulating shared scooters, creating a more orderly environment.
Yangquan's commitments to aesthetic improvement also extend to street and alley landscaping, with 505,000 flowers planted at key locations. A campaign to clean up small advertisements has removed 139 damaged banners and cleared 115 sites, restoring the city’s clean facade.
Cleaning providers also utilize high-pressure cleaning vehicles and mist cannon trucks to keep roads pristine.
